Custom Mouth Guards

Mouth Guards (Sports)

Purpose:
Impact Distribution: Mouthguards can protect the teeth and jaws from impact injury in contact sports by distributing and absorbing the force.

Soft Tissue Protection: It acts as a barrier between teeth and the lips, cheek and tongue to minimize chances of biting injuries due to impact.

Jaw Stabilisation: To prevent the severity of concussions and injury to the jaw joint.

Why we need custom made mouth guards?

A custom made mouth guard has superior fit and comfort. Designed to stay in place securely without excessive clenching and more comfortable than stock mouth guards.

Splints / Night Guards (Bruxism & Teeth Grinding)

Clenching and grinding during sleep can cause excessive damage and wear on teeth. A night guard is custom-made to help form a physical barrier to protect the teeth.

A splint has the additional function of Muscle Relaxation: By slightly changing the biting surface, a splint prevents the "locked-in" position of the jaw. This allows the masseter and temporal muscles to relax, reducing tension headaches and facial pain.

TMJ Offloading: It reduces the pressure on the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). This helps alleviate clicking, popping, and the risk of the jaw "locking."

Neuromuscular Training: A properly calibrated splint can actually "train" the brain to reduce the intensity of clenching by providing a neutral biting platform.

Anti-snoring and Sleep Apnea appliances:

A Mandibular Advancement Device (M.A.D) positions the lower jaw in a more forward position, helping to create more space for breathing.

Airway Expansion: When you sleep on your back, gravity causes your tongue and the soft tissues of your throat to collapse backward, narrowing the airway. By pulling the jaw forward, the MAD creates more "clearance" at the back of the throat.

Tongue Stabilization: Your tongue is attached to your lower jaw. When the device moves the jaw forward, the base of the tongue is pulled forward with it, preventing it from falling back and blocking your windpipe.

Increased Tissue Tension: The forward shift tightens the soft tissues and muscles of the upper airway. This tension makes the tissues less likely to vibrate (which causes snoring) or collapse entirely (which causes apnea).

Q&A:
How to choose my suitable custom mouth guards?
