Dental Implants
What is Dental Implants?
In some cases, teeth may need to be extracted, or teeth may already be missing and have failed to develop. Dental Implants can help to restore a healthy and happy smile, as well as restoring function in eating and speaking.
Why choose TOP Dental for Dental Implants?
We believe in detailed assessments and aided by a CBCT scan (cone-beam computed tomography) we will discuss with you any proposed treatment after evaluating the bone quality, level and suitability. Careful planning helps to achieve the most desired result and modern equipment and technology can help to minimise any discomfort.
Implants can be placed as a single unit, or as part of multiple units such a bridge, when multiple teeth are missing. They can also be placed in the same session as a tooth extraction, which is especially important in aesthetic areas.

Dental Implant Hurt?
During the dental implant procedure, anesthesia and sedation are administered to ensure patients do not feel pain. However, it is normal to experience some discomfort, pain, swelling, and bruising after the surgery as part of the body's natural healing process. In the initial days following the procedure, localized pain around the implant site is common. This discomfort typically peaks within the first 24 to 72 hours and then gradually subsides. Over-the-counter pain medications can help manage this discomfort. Most patients report a significant reduction in pain within the first week.
Dental Implant Process
Implant placement into the alveolar bone is a minor surgical procedure. Some patients may need a bone graft to enhance implant stability. After surgery, implants typically require a 3 - 6 - month recovery for osseointegration. If there’s insufficient keratinized gum around the implant, a gum graft might be needed for long - term implant health. Once the implant is stable and the surrounding gum has healed, the dentist will use oral scanning for the restoration. Simple implant treatments take about 3 months. If bone or gum grafting is required, the entire process may take six months to a year or more.
Dental Implant Regret?
While dental implants are widely recognized for their ability to restore oral health and confidence, some patients may experience regret due to various reasons. Poor planning is a common issue. If implants are placed without a comprehensive long-term plan, they might be positioned incorrectly. Removing an integrated implant can be challenging as it requires removing a significant amount of bone, which may weaken the jaw and complicate future implant procedures. Another consideration is the patient's age.
Implants placed in individuals who are still growing can lead to aesthetic issues later in life, as the surrounding bone and tissue may recede with age. Despite these considerations, the majority of patients report that dental implants were one of the best decisions they made. The ability to eat favorite foods, smile confidently, and enjoy an improved quality of life often outweighs any initial concerns.
